Medicaid Fraud

Our office, in a joint effort with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the State Auditor, is working to eliminate fraud in Georgia's medicaid program. Unscrupulous medical providers may develop schemes to defraud the state's medicaid program through overbilling, billing for fictitious patients or charging for procedures that were never performed. That is a crime in Georgia, and our office will prosecute those who would take money from a program designed to help those most in need in our state. Our Medicaid fraud unit has been recognized as one of the best units in the country. We have obtained over 130 convictions since this program was initiated, and have obtained orders awarding over $35 million in fines and restitution from these criminals.
