Tobacco

The Office of the Attorney General is responsible for enforcing the tobacco industry’s compliance with the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement and the laws governing escrow deposits by tobacco product manufacturers. However, the Attorney General does not control the money paid to the State of Georgia under the terms of the Master Settlement Agreement; that money is deposited each year into the state treasury and allocated by the General Assembly.
