ATLANTA - Attorney General Thurbert E. Baker announced today that the State of Georgia will receive the sixth installment payment from Circle K Corporation on a 1993 settlement agreement between Circle K and the federal government, Georgia, and numerous other states.

The settlement agreement was entered into pursuant to Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in United States District Court in Arizona. Under the settlement, Circle K agreed to pay the federal government and the states $30 million dollars over seven years to pay for remediation of underground fuel storage tank releases. Georgia's share is over $2.6 million and will be paid to the Department of Natural Resources.
