Attorney General Sam Olens made the following statement on foreclosure fraud legislation, HB 237, which passed the House today on a vote of 168-1:

“I am pleased that the House recognizes the need to expand the current mortgage fraud law in Georgia to include fraud during the foreclosure process,” said Olens. “I thank Representative Rich Golick for taking the lead on the issue by sponsoring and shepherding this important legislation, which will help protect Georgians from fraud. HB 237 will give law enforcement, including the Attorney General’s office, sufficient authority to investigate and prosecute misconduct throughout the lending process.”
