On Wednesday, September 4, 2013, a Dougherty County Grand Jury indicted former Albany State University Foundation (Foundation) employees Angela Getter and Sean Stanley for one count of Racketeering (O.C.G.A. § 16-14-4(c).

Getter is the former executive director of the Foundation, and Stanley is the former business manager of the Foundation. Between October, 2007 and January, 2008, Getter and Stanley had supplemental checks produced which awarded them $12,500 and $15,500, respectively, for “Professional Services.” The theft was discovered during a routine audit after Getter and Stanley had resigned from their positions.

Assistant Attorney General Daniel A. Hiatt is prosecuting the case on behalf of the State of Georgia. The case was investigated by Agent Marko Jones of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Members of the public should keep in mind that indictments contain only allegations against the individual(s) against whom the indictment is sought. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and it will be the government’s burden at trial to prove the defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of the allegations contained in the indictment.
